In brief: on 2 October 2026, bitcoin briefly rose above $87,000: according to daily data from the Bitstamp exchange, the high for 2 October (UTC) was $87,219.40, the open $84,851.22 and the close $84,500.84. In soums, the high is about 1.027 billion soums at the Central Bank of Uzbekistan rate as of 3 October 2026 (11,772.95 soums per $1). The rise came on the day the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) published its September employment report: +29,000 nonfarm jobs. On 2 October 2026, Cointelegraph linked bitcoin’s jump to the labor market data, which pushed US Treasury yields lower. At 10:18 UTC (15:18 Tashkent time) on 3 October 2026, CoinGecko showed $84,570 — 2.05% lower than 24 hours earlier. Under PQ-3832 (of 3 July 2018, as amended by PQ-143 since 20 April 2026), citizens of Uzbekistan may carry out transactions to buy, sell and (or) exchange crypto assets exclusively through national providers — service providers licensed by the National Agency of Perspective Projects (NAPP), except in cases provided for by legislative acts; the list from the register as of 3 October 2026 is below.

What the US published on 2 October: the September jobs report
The BLS Employment Situation report for September 2026 came out on 2 October. Key figures from the text of the release:
- nonfarm payrolls — +29,000 for September, unemployment — 4.2%; in the BLS wording, both measures changed little;
- July data was revised down by 31,000 — from +21,000 to −10,000;
- August data was revised down by 29,000 — from +162,000 to +133,000; together, July and August are 60,000 lower than previously reported.
On 2 October 2026, Cointelegraph compared the September figure with market expectations: the forecast was 84,000 jobs.
How bitcoin’s rise is explained: what the outlets say
The explanations below are the outlets’ own — each with its source and publication time.
- Bond yields. Cointelegraph wrote on 2 October 2026 that weaker-than-expected jobs data pushed US Treasury yields lower, and on that bitcoin topped $87,000. At the time of publication, according to Cointelegraph, the 10-year yield was 5.2% and the 30-year 5.573%; on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, both had reached 24-year highs, according to the outlet.
- The Fed rate. Cointelegraph wrote on 2 October 2026 that after the weaker jobs data, traders scaled back bets on a rate hike by the Fed (the US Federal Reserve): according to CME FedWatch data cited by the outlet, the probability of a 0.25 percentage point Fed hike at the October meeting fell to 18% from 64% a week earlier.
- ETFs and unemployment. Bitcoin Magazine on 2 October 2026 attributed the rise to constant flows into exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and to a report in which US unemployment ticked up; the BLS itself says that unemployment (4.2%) changed little. The outlet also notes that the Fed raised its rate in September: according to the FOMC statement of 16 September 2026, the target range was raised by 0.25 percentage point, to 3.75–4.00%.
- Short liquidations. At 09:37 UTC on 2 October 2026, before the BLS report came out (12:30 UTC), Cointelegraph reported $122 million in bitcoin short liquidations over 24 hours ($210 million across all cryptocurrencies); at that point, according to TradingView data for Bitstamp, bitcoin reached $86,857 — per Cointelegraph, the highest since 23 September.
ETF flows. According to the Farside Investors table, on 1 October 2026 US spot bitcoin ETFs took in net inflows of $102.7 million, of which BlackRock’s IBIT accounted for $195.6 million; FBTC saw outflows of $60.7 million and GBTC $31.4 million. A day earlier, on 30 September 2026, there was a net outflow of $148.7 million. As of 3 October 2026, the table’s data for 2 October 2026 is incomplete (no figure for IBIT).
We do not give price forecasts: target levels from banks and analysts are their opinion, not data.
